Some of the activities of the Children's Ministry:

  • Sunday School begins each week immediately following communion and finishes at 12:30 PM 
  • October 24th Youth Vespers & Fall Festival 
  • We celebrate the Nativity of Christ with an amazing Christmas play, directed by Nancy, our parish choir director 
  • St Nicholas brings goodies to children at our Christmas Eve service 
  • We make candles which are blessed for Presentation of the Lord in the Temple (February 2) "A light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of thy people Israel"
  • We bless our children on two Great Feasts: the Theotokos' Entry into the Temple with a special blessing of all the girls and the Presentation of our Lord with a special blessing of the boys
  • The children paritipate in the Western Region Parish Life Conference Creative Arts Festival & Bible Bowl Competition (practice begins in term 2) 
  • All the children bring Icons and join Father Samer in the procession around the church for the Sunday of Orthodoxy 
  • On Lazarus Saturday, we have our annual pancake breakfast & and decoration of Palm Sunday candles. On Easter, they have the Easter egg hunt.
  • We close the spring term with our annual picnic with food, fun, and games
  • Students are invited to participate in our "Summer Spiritual Reading" program over the summer, in which they select an Orthodox book or Bible Story to read (or a family read aloud) and complete a reflection project

Church School

Church School classes begin after communion on Sunday mornings and end at 12:30pm.

Pre-Kindergarten through First grade children must be picked up from their classrooms.

Snacks - We suggest that each parent provide juice and healthy snack to share twice during the school year or a monetary donation. Please bring them to your classroom teachers as soon as possible. Suggestions are: Apple juice, Cranberry juice, or Grape juice; Fresh fruit: Apples, Oranges, Bananas, Carrots, or Celery; Cheese sticks, Graham crackers, raisins, Gold-fish, Cheez-its, or popcorn.

Please do not bring any peanut butter products due to allergy problems.

Attendance - Students need to be here on a regular basis and on time for Divine Liturgy. There are a total of 28 lessons. A special certificate and gift will be given at the end of Sunday school for those students who attend 50% or more. A participation certificate will be given to all students who attend at least 25%.

We will meet in the courtyard every Sunday before class for 5 - 10 minutes. The children will be learning various Hymns: More Honorable than the Cherubim, Nativity Hymn, Holy God, Holy Mighty; Christ is Risen and Transfiguration Troparion during the Sunday School year. It is important for all grade levels to learn to sing and be ready to let music fill the air. We encourage all students to participate.
